During the holidays, people are often on the road as they travel to visit loved ones. Unfortunately, though this time of year should be joyous, a serious car accident could easily result in a family facing grief rather than happiness. Even when doing their best to travel safely, innocent parties can have their lives cut short due to the negligent actions of other drivers.

It was recently reported that a crash in Virginia resulted in one fatality and injuries to multiple other people. Before the accident, a vehicle was traveling west, and the driver tried to make a left turn. However, a vehicle traveling behind the first vehicle tried passing as the first vehicle started to turn. As a result, the second vehicle collided with the side of the first vehicle.

The incident resulted in the driver of the first vehicle suffering fatal injuries, and the person was declared dead at the accident site. Two 16-year-old passengers in that vehicle both suffered injuries, including serious injuries for one of those passengers. The driver of the second vehicle was also seriously injured and taken from the scene for medical treatment. It was noted that the crash was still under investigation and that there were pending charges.

Losing a loved one during the holidays can be a tremendous blow to any family. The surviving loved ones of this Virginia victim may be wondering how they can move on from such a sudden event. Due to the circumstances of the car accident, they may have reason to take legal action against the driver considered at fault in order to seek compensation for damages permitted under state law that could help them address the hardships resulting from the crash.
