Though many people may like to think that the roadways are safe, danger lurks around every bend. Drunk, distracted, tired, negligent and reckless drivers are on roads all across the country, and while most people are able to make it to their destinations unscathed, that is not the outcome for many individuals. Unfortunately, a car accident could quickly claim a person’s life.

It was recently reported that an accident in Virginia proved fatal. Apparently, a box truck was heading south when it swiped the side of a pickup truck also heading south. That initial collision resulted in the pickup hitting another southbound vehicle, and the box truck traveled into the northbound lanes where it hit a car head-on.

The driver of the car that was hit head-on by the box truck suffered fatal injuries in the accident. He was reported as being 37 years old, and authorities declared him dead at the accident site. It was not mentioned whether any of the other individuals involved in the crash suffered injuries, but it was noted that the crash was still under investigation. More information may be released after its conclusion.

The family of the man killed in this Virginia car accident may feel a sense of disbelief as well as grief over their sudden loss. No one can prepare themselves for the news that a loved one’s life has been claimed by a car crash, and the aftermath can be difficult to handle. If they feel it could be right for them, the family may have reason to file a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault for the crash in efforts to seek compensation for allowable damages.
